about us

Family 🙂

we, they are Susanne and Hans-Peter from Riedstadt. We got to know each other 1983 in Filderstadt, when we decided without further ado at the Krautfest, to drive into the desert with our Renault R5. Said…. did. Or rather, almost done, because unfortunately we were not allowed to enter Algeria with the stamp from South Africa at that time. We then drove ignorant, that this applied to all North African countries, Direction Morocco. There was not a thorough check at customs and we were able to enter. We met a married couple on this trip: they were 70 and 72 Years old and with a Mercedes Sprinter, expanded by James Cook, On the way. For us at the time, they were real pioneers. Their motto was : “We are always there, where we like it best. ”We liked this motto so much, that we could imagine that for our age. Our dream: To have a life at some point from which you no longer need a vacation . Now it is time, the children out of the house, enough work, Companies sold and now the next challenge. We look forward to our next phase of life and the adventures that come with it.

I was born 1958 in Baden-Baden, a baby boy, my only brother is scarce 9 Years older. Even my parents loved traveling and passed the gene on to me. During my studies of agricultural sciences in Hohenheim (I've always been very fond of animals and enjoy being outside in nature) I got a temporary job at LSG at the airport – after half a year you could for 10% fly at normal airfare. That was of course my dream job and I took every opportunity, to discover the world. During this time I visited many capitals in Europe, was partly alone with a backpack for 6 Weeks in brazil, Peru and Bolivia on the way, there were also trips to South Africa, in die USA, nach Hawai u.s.w. For my thesis I spent 3 Monate in Togo, then we went on a short tour through West Africa. Back from Africa, I got to know and love my husband Hans-Peter at LSG. After our first vacation together, we with a Renault 5 and spent a tent in Morocco, was clear to me, that I “right” have found. We got married, moved to the Frankfurt area for professional reasons, soon built a house in Erfelden and got 3 wonderful children, 2 Sons and a daughter. In between, I passed the tax advisor exam (this profession was not planned at all, but I actually enjoyed it a lot) and made me 1993 self-employed with his own law firm. It went very well professionally and so I ended up with it 7 employees, who supported me. It was a very busy one, but also very nice time.

We also went on lovely trips with the children, partly with tent, Camper or even in a holiday home. Among other things, we toured the West- and east coast of the USA, South Africa, Malawi, Caribbean, Venezuela and Argentina.

In the meantime all the children have flown out and stand on their own two feet. The family has grown, great children-in-law were added and I've been since 2019 proud grandma of the cutest grandson in the world. Our large family is priceless happiness for me :).

On the other hand, ours have moved in 2 Fur noses, Frodo and Quappo, 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, who enrich our lives a lot and of course are there on all trips. In addition to traveling and dogs are gardening, Reading and needlework are other hobbies of mine.

In the year 2019 we decided, that we have now worked enough and it is time for a new chapter in life. So I sold my practice and my husband also sold his business. Our new mobile home, the Henriette, was bought and rebuilt for our needs. 2020 we started our first tour to Scandinavia and put Henriette through its paces. My husband is responsible for driving, Cooking and repairs, I take care of the routes, Parking spaces and shopping.

The next trip was to go to Mongolia, Unfortunately, Corona thwarted our plans. But we are optimistic, that we can soon be on the road again without any problems.

3 Years after my wife saw the light of day, I was born in Bonn. I spent my childhood until 11. Year of life with three sisters in Siegburg / North Rhine Westphalia.

After my father moved to Darmstadt, we moved to the Hesse region. I've always had wanderlust and loved nature. Desired career as a toddler” Einsiedler” 🙂

I went on my first bike tour 14. The four of us drove the German Wine Route to Bad Bergzabern and then to Strasbourg. Many bike tours among others Scotland, France, England, Greece followed. Later we found the Interrail ticket for us and traveled Europe with a backpack and sleeping bag.

I finished school 1979 not quite so successful and felt like it, to learn the profession of cook. Of course, the background to see and get to know the world was also here. I started my apprenticeship 1979 at what was then Lufthansa Service GmbH. The great thing about LSG was of course, that not only the apprenticeship was good, but also the favored aviation. Here I could indulge my wanderlust. 10 % from the normal flight price and always with the uncertainty, whether you come home on time or arrive at your planned holiday destination. Standby flying was just the right adventure for me.

1981 I met my wife at a party service at the Filder Tennis Grand Prix . I immediately had myself transferred to Filderstadt without discussing it with her. When I then on 1.2. 1982 When she arrived in Filderstadt, she wasn't there at first. She was in Togo, to prepare your thesis. Frustrated about this, I immediately reported for military service in Berchtesgaden. I spent my entire military service there. In July 1982 I came back to Filderstadt and my current wife was there again. We quickly got to know each other through our common wanderlust and shortly afterwards we spent our first vacation together with Renault 5 and tent in Morocco

She has already described the further trips and children and grandchildren together. She is simply faster than me at writing. The only thing left to add is, that we in July 2021 have got a cute little granddaughter.

Of course, family planning has not really made my professional dreams come true. After the wedding I went to the hotel management school in Heidelberg to learn business administration. After graduating as a state-certified hotel manager, I continued my career at Mövenpick, ARA Services, Sodexho and Comfortable Catering. 2003 I started my own business with O.P.A.L. Catering GmbH. After building a large kitchen, we ended up delivering approx. 5.000 Meals daily. at kindergartens and schools in the Rhein Main area.

Like my wife, I have my own business 2019 sold.

Now we want to live a life, from which you no longer need a vacation. Corona has us in the last 2 Years, of course, just like everyone else in the world.

Now that we've been vaccinated, we can also travel responsibly again.
